Friday 20th March 2009
| Buda Juniors Group 6 |
vs
FC Abony |
won 4-2 |
|
Marco (2), Áron, Henry |
Another victory, our 4th in a row...
We played a team who was very well organised, disciplined, and fast with the ball. We started the match a bit carefully, which was necessary as we had no idea what kind of team we were facing. After 10 minutes we started to control the game and rule the midfield, knocking the ball around nicely and forcing Abony to defend a lot. That meant less danger in front of our goal. Even so, they made it a few times into our penalty area and reminded us to be careful. We had a few chances, but most of the shots coming from Marco and Florian missed the goal. We had to wait 44 minutes for our first goal, but man it was worth it! Marco controlled a pass in the air and hammered it under the crossbar without the ball touching the grass... A beautiful volley, for which even at Old Trafford the public would stand up and cheer. Abony put the ball down for the kick-off, but the referee's whistle meant half-time.
The second half started the same as most of the first had gone: we controlled the midfield, with good passing and a high tempo. All of our players had the drive to go forward, and 10 minutes into the second half Áron find his way to Abony's net. After the goal Abony started to push forward. The right side of our defence was tested a few times and Abony were getting closer and closer to our goal. 8 minutes after our second goal Abony scored. A long-range shot found Sebastian standing further out of our goal than necessary and we all watched the ball falling into the goal. Our players continued their football and not long after Abony's goal one of their defenders made a mistake. After Henry's shot he "controlled" the ball with his hand within the penalty box, which meant Henry could place the ball on the penalty spot and then place the ball calmly into the left corner of the net to make the score 3-1. Unfortunately we couldn't celebrate for long as Abony's left wing came into action again. Tim could not keep up with his opponent and Max in the middle did not react in time, so Abony's centre forward was alone to receive the ball and score. During this part of the game we had difficulties keeping the ball, although we did get behind their defence with some good passing. But then along came Marco. He had a good opportunity to target the goal from about 20 metres and with a little help from Abony's keeper we were 4-2 up. After our fourth goal we played calm and safe, leaving no chance to our guests to score.
A good match, not for the first time in 2009, and we hope that our players can keep up the work and spirit....

Friday 13th March 2009
| Buda Juniors Group 6 |
vs
Diófa-Tát SE |
won 20-3 |
|
Marco (4), Henry (6), Florian (2), Sam (2), Nick, Oliver, Áron (3), Claire |
The biggest win in Buda Juniors IFC's history... Scoring 20 goals during 90 minutes is always special whoever is facing us!
The result maybe makes you wonder what kind of match it was. Look at last years results against Diófa-Tát SE. We played them in October 2008 and had a very difficult job to beat them 5-2, with Florian scoring 4 of our goals. In spring 2008 we drew 3-3. Tát didn't change at all, their players are the same - we changed!
Anyway, Buda Juniors started the match uncompromisingly. Being stronger, faster and much more disciplined than Tát we were 5-0 up after just 11 minutes. Our whole team functioned well, working together, helping each other. Our passing was much better than the previous week and whenever we had the ball we were very quickly in front of Tát's goal. The only time Tát were able to score was when Sebastian made a mistake in our goal. Unfortunately Tát's player reacted the quickest and changed the result from 6-0 to 6-1, but just before the half-time whistle Henry scored our seventh goal.
We made some changes for the second half, but our team just went on and on. We even switched gear and 10 minutes into the second half the score was 11-1. And still it went on. Some really good football brought another 4 goals. Tát's answer only came after our 18th and then 19th goals to bring the score to 19-3. Just before the final whistle we made it to the magic number 20.
We hope that this level of performance will last and our team will continue playing how they did in the last three weeks. This match helped to improve confidence and team play, plus it put a very big smile on all of our faces!

Saturday 7th March 2009
| Buda Juniors Group 6 |
vs
Szent Pál A. FC |
won 7-1 |
|
Nick, Áron (2), Elliott, Marco (3) |
We played against Szent Pál A. FC's players from year 1989-1991, which meant that most of our player were 1 or 2 years younger. This was a good test to see how far we are with our oldest age group.
Because of the strong wind we had to change our tactics a little, especially as we were starting the game against the wind. We knew that discipline, accurate football and keeping the ball low could help us a lot to play an effective first half. In this way we managed to control the game from the beginning. Szent Pál had very few opportunities to get close to our goal, but unfortunately one of those chances turned into a goal. 1-0 in the 38th minute and we all thought that this would be the half-time score. All except Nick, however, who scored our equaliser 4 minutes later after reacting fastest to a rebound off the keeper. 1-1 at half-time was a very promising scoreline before the second half, as we knew that the wind would help us for the next 45 minutes.
We changed our team around a little bit for the second half as we wanted to push forward and try to use the wind as our 12th player. This tactic paid back big time. After the 60th minute only one team was on the field and Szent Pál A. FC could barely cross the halfway line. Áron scored our second goal to open the floodgates. Áron's great pass found Elliott in a scoring position and Elliott didn't miss. Next Marco assisted Áron with a cross from the right to help Áron score with a header to put us 4-1 up. Marco had already played a big part in the match but his time had just arrived. He aimed at the goal from 18 metres out and a beautifully placed ball changed the result to 5-1. He then produced a carbon copy of his first goal to bring us our 6th goal, and even then he just could not rest. He dribbled into the penalty box and Szent Pál's defender could only stop him with a foul to give us a penalty. Marco brushed himself down, stood behind the ball and scored to bring up his very well-deserved hat-trick.
This was a confident win over a team which isn't just older then us but plays regularly in the Hungarian 3rd Division youth competition. It was good to see that all of our players followed the instructions well and played with discipline. Our oldest group showed that the last two months of hard work wasn't for nothing and that they became a team.

Sunday 1st March 2009
| Buda Juniors 1996/7 |
vs A.S. Romai |
lost 3-7 |
|
Till (2), Fabrizio |
A mix between our 96 and 97 age groups played their first 11-a-side full field match on Sunday against a strong and more experienced A.S Romai side. Although the final score was slightly disappointing, the boys performed very well, especially in the second half. A misunderstandig between Jelle and Glenn led to the opening goal as the striker nipped in between them to head home. Till replied with a sublime free-kick, curling the ball up and over the wall into the top corner (a finish worthy of Beckham himself!!!). We then conceded three times before the break due to some sloppy defending as we struggled to come to terms with the size of the field... and the goal!
The second half was much better, but a mistake from Barna led to another Romai goal. Till then produced another moment of magic from a dead ball, sending in a fantastic delivery which was helped into the net by a Romai defender. Sam then sent in a great corner which was half-cleared to the edge of the box. Fabrizio met it beautifully with a stunning volley that flew into the corner of the net! Glenn pulled off a great close-range save and came out bravely at the striker's feet to deny another opportunity. However, he was powerless to stop a long-range shot a few minutes later and an unfortunate Alex sliced the ball into his own net right at the end to leave the final score 7-3.
A great experience overall, with all the boys looking forward to playing outside on big pitches again.

| Buda Juniors Group 6 |
vs
Piliscsaba |
won 5-1 |
|
Aron, Marco (2), Flo, Henry |
We played our first match of the spring with our "oldest" players in BJ. The match started up well for us as our players grabbed the ball and didn't let go of it. We moved the ball very well, passed accurately and worked well together as a team. Sebastian and all of our defenders showed a great deal of discipline. Max in the centre of defence played very strongly and added to our forward play as well. Aron opened the series of goals as he got a ball from our midfield and as the Piliscsaba defence had tried to set him offside he found himself facing only the goalie. We continued playing well and not long afterwards Florian made it 2-0 before Marco scored from a free-kick to put us further ahead.
Not long after the break Henry was knocked over in the penalty box and got a penalty. Henry stood behind the ball and scored very calmly to make it 4-0. A defensive mistake from Oliver gave the chance to Piliscsaba to score. Marco's answer didn't wait long and brought the final result to 5-1.
Our team's overall performance was very good, even if in the second half we didn't play as well as we had done during the first 45 minutes. Given that we had had no chance to train outdoors this year yet, playing the first game wasn't easy.

Wednesday 26th November 2008
| Buda Juniors Group 6 |
vs Esztergom SE |
lost 2-6 |
|
Attila, Claire |
|
A surprisingly bad performance. In the first half all of our players just walked about, unable to really follow the pre-match instructions. No excuse, even though some of the players were playing their first match with Buda Juniors - we have players who should move the team forward and make sure that we have strong defence too.
We were able to hold Esztergom until the 20th minute, but two mistakes in defence and we were two goals down. Esztergom are a good team, so we agreed that giving them such an advantage was just not on, but (no!) a defensive mistake on the right side of our defence and a goalie mistake and it was 4-0 to Esztregom. Our answer was a goal from Attila 3 minutes before half-time.
Rearranging the team helped a little bit and with Claire (the only girl in the team) leading the team and scoring, we got our hopes up and looked like we could come back into the game. A good pass from Nick and Claire's beautiful finish changed the score to 4-2. From then on our team tried their best to score more, but going forward meant we opened up at the back and Esztergom didn't miss their chances. Two more goals and the game was finished for Buda Juniors!
The match showed that playing football when you get to 15-16 years old is not just about playing how their coaches want them to. They need to have good fitness, try to adjust to the team, and try to follow instructions. We have 6 players who are, in any kind of circumstances, able to match up with most of the teams we come across, but there is plenty of work to be done to get the results that we believe this group of players are able to get... |

Friday 31st October 2008
| Buda Juniors Group 6 |
vs
Diófa- Tát SE |
won 5-2 |
|
Florian (4), Oliver |
|
This was our "big boys-girls" first match together with the new boys who joined us in September and October. We started the match very slowly, with some of our players being nervous. It is understandable, as three of them had never played before with Buda Juniors and this line-up was playing together for the very first time. Even so, Oliver and Florian led the team and so we created chances which unfortunately did not always turn into goals. Tát got the lead after a small defensive error. This was their only chance but they were able to score so we went into the break one goal down.
The second half was a different story. All of our players changed gear and left our guests standing. After 15 minutes it was 3-1, showing that Clair and the boys were serious about winning the match. Florian's third goal made it 4-1. Not long afterwards we gave Diofa-Tát a chance and they scored their second. Five minutes before the end we scored again and settled the match 5-2.
Even though the team play wasn't as good as we had planned, all of our players worked hard and showed that there is a good team spirit. Sam, Nick and Max played their first game, so welcome boys... |

Sunday 31st August 2008
| Buda Juniors Group 6 |
vs Tabáni Spartacus |
drew 4-4 |
|
Kristof (2), David, Oliver |
|
Our oldest boys played their first friendly of the season. We had three guest players helping us, because not all of our players had come back from holiday yet. Also we had some players whose first training was two days before the match, so we can not talk about a perfectly ready team. Even so we played well and ended up with a 4-4 draw. Throughout the match we could see that our players were not in their best form just yet, but we were very happy that they all tried their hardest to win the game. Two mistakes in goal and one shortcut in defence gave 3 goals away. The team functioned well and tried to play together in defence and also forward. |
