This match would prove to be one of the toughest of
the day for the Buda Juniors A team. The boys started
the game with some strong wing play involving Sam
V, who gave the Esztergom defence loads of problems
on the left side, while Ben and Hugo were dominating
the middle of the field. Lars up front was ever dangerous
and provided the team with the first scoring chance
from a great pass from Sam M. However, the Esztergom
goalkeeper not only stopped Lars' drive, but was quick
on his feet and prevented Ben from capitalizing on
the rebound with an amazing reflex save.
With
Yelle ever present at the back, the Esztergom forwards
had their hands full trying to get around the Buda
Juniors defence. The first breakthrough came via a
mistake by Thorben, when he picked up a back pass
- the game official was quick to award Esztergom a
free kick. The Esztergom player calmly stepped up
and beat both the wall and Thorben to make the score
1-0.
At
the start of the second half Buda Juniors began to
step up their attack on the opposition goal, with
Ben having loads of time with the ball in the midfield
and Hugo providing support from behind. The boys fought
for every ball and most of the time came away with
it at their feet. Midway through the second half Yelle
gathered the ball and dribbled from the back, then
passed the ball to Hugo who beat the first defender
and slipped the ball to Lars. He in turn immediately
found Ben with a pin-point pass, and Ben was quick
to hit a stunning strike which left the Esztergom
keeper with no chance.
For
the remainder of the match Ben, Yelle and Sam M, along
with Sam V, drove forward looking for the winning
goal. However, time and again the Esztergom keeper
was able to make the save, leaving the final score
1-1.
This
was a very entertaining match which had it all: tackles,
great passing and shooting, along with some fine saves.
Both Thorben and Miak were solid in the goal and both
played with confidence. All the subs were used and
for Alex and Adrian K it was their first real taste
of a match against another club, with both boys performing
very well when called upon.

In the second match the boys totally dominated in
every part of the field. Once again Ben and Hugo
were winning virtually every ball in the middle,
and Yelle and Sam M held the Szent Pál forwards
at bay. But this game belonged to one person: Ben.
With the help of the supporting cast, he was able
to score an amazing hat-trick.
In
the first half both Kevin and Sam V was unstoppable
down the left and right sides. During one of Sam
V's rushes he won a corner kick, which Sam M lifted
over the defenders for Ben to nod the ball home,
giving the team a well-deserved 1-0 lead. It was
a great corner by Sam M and an even better finish
by Ben.
Shortly
after going ahead, Fabrizio once again won a tackle
at the back and took off up the field, where he
found Sam V on the left side with a weighted pass.
Sam V was quick to find Ben with a perfect ball,
which Ben picked up in the middle of the field before
driving past three Szent Pál defenders and
calmly placing the ball into the bottom right corner
past the keeper. So at half-time, the Buda Juniors
A team were two goals to the good.
The second half began as the first had ended, with
Buda Juniors dominating. However, for the first
time in the match the defence made a mistake. Yelle
tried to dribble the ball out from the defensive
third, but a Szent Pál forward was there
to nip the ball away from him. However, Miak was
alert and was there to save the day with a great
save.
Towards
the end of the game Ben decided it was time to finish
the opponents off single-handed. He picked up a
loose ball on the right side of the field and dribbled
towards the middle, where he looked up at the goal
and smoothly deposited the ball into the top right
corner to make the score 3-0.
In
the last minute of the match the Szent Pál
forwards managed to find a way through the tough
Buda Juniors defence and put the ball past Miak,
making the score a respectable 3-1.
During
the match the defence of Yelle, Fabrizio and Sam
M were totally unbeatable. And on the rare occasions
when the opposition forwards broke through, both
Thorben and Miak were there to make the stop.

This match started at a frenetic pace, with both
teams going on the offensive, which was to set the
tone for the match. All hands and feet were called
into action with both teams concentrating on driving
the ball forward looking for goals.
The
first breakthrough came early in the first half
as Lars fed Sam M a picture perfect pass through
the Pilisszentiván defence and Sam was able
to complete this move by slotting the ball into
the back of the net, making the score 1-0. Unlike
the first two games, the Buda Juniors A team's defence
looked tired, as this was their second game in a
row without a rest. The Pilisszentiván forwards
were able to work the ball down the side and a sloppy
clearance attempt by the defence allowed the Pilisszentiván
foward the opportunity to put the ball into the
back of the net to equalise.
During
the first half we got a glimpse of a different Thorben
- the confidence he displayed in his handling of
the ball was something we had not witnessed before
but knew he had. After a quick talking-to at half-time,
the players took to the field looking to make amends
for the defensive mistake.
Within
the first five minutes of the second half the Buda
Juniors A team was up 2-1. Sam V was sent down the
left side by Sam M and he quickly took the opportunity
to break towards the goal and take a shot, placing
the ball into the far right corner.
However,
with less than 5 minutes remaining Pilisszentiván
were able to break downfield with some good passing
and were able to beat Miak from the left side, tying
the score at 2-2.
With
time running down the Buda Juniors A team was awarded
a corner-kick on the right-hand side. Sam V whipped
the ball into the middle where Sam M stepped up
and neatly stuck the ball behind the keeper. Within
seconds of the restart the ref blew his whistle,
bringing the game to an end and giving Buda Juniors
a well-fought 3-2 win.
