Roma
4
Till (2), Simon D (2)
Hamburg

This game's frenetic opening set the tone for the day, with both teams flying into the tackles and concentrating on defensive duties. The breakthrough came in the 7th minute as Simon beat two Hamburg defenders on the left before squaring the ball for substitute Till, who made no mistake from close range with his first touch of the game!!!

The closely-fought first half gave no indication of what was to follow as Roma turned on the style and picked off their opponents on the counter attack, adding three more goals without reply. Glenn did his best with a flying save from Till's free-kick, but from Kevin's corner Alex K was unfortunate as his terrific block fell kindly for Simon D to finish. Almost immediately it was 3 as Till found some space 20 metres out and hit a powerful low drive into the far corner.

Hamburg pushed forward in desperation but were picked off by the goal of the day as Fabrizio's clearance found Till on the right and his first time through ball with the outside of his boot was sublime. Simon took the ball in his stride, held off the attention of Jelle and calmly lifted the ball over the advancing Glenn and into the net.

A great win for the Reds but Hamburg left with a lot to think about before their next game...

Dundee United
2
Bernardo (2)
Roma
1
Simon

The Tangerines made a brighter start, with Bernardo pulling his shot wide from Christian's through ball, but Roma took the lead as Simon tapped in after Barnard had pulled off a great double save from Till and Rein. Alex H responded with a good dribble and shot which crept just wide. The equaliser was coming and it arrived as Christian chased down a lost cause, putting pressure on Thorben and Ricardo forcing a mistake which Bernardo pounced on and finished into the open goal.

Level at half-time, but from the restart United were in front. Max N's clearance found Bernardo, who flicked the ball over Fabrizio for the onrushing Mark. A great touch took him past a reckless lunge from Alex K, who sent him tumbling. The ref duly pointed to the spot and although Bernardo was made to retake his initial effort for encroachment, he kept his cool and despatched the ball into the bottom corner.

Roma pushed for the equaliser and the best chance fell to Rein from Till's cross but he just failed to connect. Dundee Utd held on for a deserved victory and left Roma on 3 points from their opening two games.

Hamburg
3
Lars, Jelle, Ben
Dundee United
2
Adrian, Harry

Going to form this should have been an easy victory for Dundee Utd. However it turned into the best game of the day, which will be hard to top for entertainment value!

Hamburg took the lead as Marcell played the ball up to Lars' feet, and he took the ball brilliantly past Max N and hit a powerful shot towards goal. Unfortunately for Barnard the ball took two deflections off defenders before finding the net. At the other end Adrian shot just over the bar after good build-up play. Jelle then took the ball out of defence and found himself on the left wing. On his weaker left foot he whipped in a great cross from the sideline which caught in the breeze and nestled in the far top corner to put Hamburg two nil up!

The second half was four minutes old before Dundee Utd could muster a chance. A great team move saw Alex H switch the ball from right to left, finding Sam V. Sam found Bernardo's feet, who in turn fed Adrian, who took one touch before hammering the ball into the roof of the net! The pressure was mounting as the Blues went in search of a second and eventually with just a minute to go Harry bundled the ball home after a goalmouth scramble when Glenn parried Sam V's cross shot.

There was one more twist left in this thriller, however, as Jessica attacked down the left, finding Marcell, who in turn fed Ben. The Tangerines' defence was all at sea as Ben cut inside and placed the ball past Barnard and into the corner to send the Hamburg team wild with virtually the last kick!
