In the first game we were not happy with the performance, but the games against Esztergom and Dorog were excellent. They showed us something that we have been waiting for for so long. We had Florian and Oliver on board as we can use two older boys from now on, and with them our team was unbeatable.... We hope for good future games. This was the first time in history we were able to beat Esztergom, who are one of the best teams in this region. Especially happy with Titouan's and Claire's performances.

Oliver

A comfortable win over Szent Pál Akademia, with the right attitude and confidence, saw the opposition hardly able to step over the half-way line.

In our second match, we had very few chances as Esztergom dominated the game. This match was all about defence and our players did well to hold out for a draw.

As we played this game right after the Esztergom match, our players were tired, but they still managed to play a very strong game, despite the disappointing scoreline.

Preliminary matches
These matches involving Buda Juniors were part of the preliminary, testing stage of the League.

Sunday 18th September 2005

vs Esztergom
lost 0-3
vs Olimpia NFK
drew 0-0

Our boys didn't perform very well as they were afraid of Esztergom. The second game saw a better performance, in which we hit the goalpost twice, but we didn't have enough confidence in front of Olimpia's goal.

Sunday 16th October 2005

vs Corvinus
won 6-1
Titouan, Thomas (2), Kaj, Soma (2)
vs Esztergom
lost 2-4
Soma, Kaj

A fantastic start blew Corvinus away inside 15 minutes. Thomas' run set up a tap-in for Titouan, which was soon followed by a great solo goal from Thomas, plus Kaj's finish after good work from Titouan and Hendrik's dummy. Substitute Soma added two great strikes before the break to make it a resounding 5-0. Buda Juniors eased off in the second half, in order to preserve their energy for the Esztergom match. Thomas tapped in for his second before a breakaway goal gave Corvinus some small consolation.

The polar opposite to the great start in the first match left us 3-0 down inside ten minutes against Esztergom. Caught sleeping in all departments, the score would have been bigger if it weren't for Sebastian in goal. The second half showed how Buda Juniors could really play, with a stunning Soma strike pulling one back, followed by great efforts from Thomas and a Kaj half-volley which was brilliantly saved. All our pressure told when Kaj smashed home from Menno's great dribble and cross. Then, with Thomas in the clear, the ref pulled play back for a foul on Soma when an equaliser seemed inevitable. The free-kick went over and Esztergom broke to add a controversial fourth, then cling on for the win. An outstanding second-half from every player, but a valuable lesson learned about playing from the first whistle to the last...
