Our coaches are carefully chosen for their skills and abilities not only for football but also for working with children. Character and personality are as equally important as their ability to play and teach football.

We ensure that as many of our coaching staff are trained in first aid as possible by enrolling them in courses.

János Bánfi
János played professional football for 14 years, appearing 25 times with the Hungarian national team, 8 of those times as captain. He played for Kispest Honved F.C. before signing with Belgian first division football team, Eendracht Aalst in January 1996. Following an injury in 1998, he retired from professional football in November 2000. He is qualified with a UEFA coaching licence. János regularly appears on television as a football commentator and speaks Hungarian, English and Dutch.

John Murphy
John has been with Buda Juniors since the club began in September 2001. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he visited Budapest while backpacking around Europe in 2000 and is still here! John is a level 1 football coach and has experience coaching in the USA and Ireland besides his 8 years with Buda Juniors. He speaks English and after nearly ten years is reasonably adept in Hungarian!!! John is involved in the coaching from Group 1 through to Group 6, but his main role is being in charge of Group 4.

Andrew Leckonby
Andrew is a level 1 football coach and has been living in Budapest since 1999. He is mainly responsible for organising the activities for our youngest players (Groups 1 and 2), but also supports the coaching in all groups. Andrew was involved with setting up Buda Juniors and has been with us since the very start, September 2001. Originating from Adelaide, Australia, Andrew is a qualified pre-school teacher who has worked with young children in Australia, England, Italy and Hungary. He recently started a junior cricket club in Budapest called Bat and Ball. He speaks English and Hungarian.

John Moses
Born in Monrovia, Liberia, and a Christian by faith, Moses is a professional football player. He arrived in Hungary in 1995, signed and played for one of Hungary's top division football clubs, Kispest Honvéd F.C. His professional career took him to many other countries, including Cameroon, Finland, Germany, China and the United Arab Emirates. He has also represented his country nationally and internationally.

Akos Horvath
Akos has been with Buda Juniors since May 2009. He started playing football when he was 7 and he has been a signed player since 1998. Now, he is the central defender of Hegyvidek S.E. and he also participates in several hobby tournaments with other teams. Akos graduated "cum laude" from Pazmany Peter Catholic University in Budapest. He obtained the Master of Law degree in May 2010 and since then he has been working as an attorney in a law office. He speaks Hungarian and English.

Yoshiaki Ikeda
I'm Japanese. I used to play football for a long time in Tokyo, and after that I came to Hungary to study in Semmelweis medical university to be a sports doctor. I have experience of teaching football in some clubs from children to university level as a qualified coach. I'm now a central midfielder for Budapest Celtic FC. I can speak Japanese & English.

Kevin
Kevin is a Nigerian\Hungarian citizen studying civil engineering at the technical University of Budapest. He speaks both English and Hungarian. He has loved football since childhood and has been inspired by his experience of the game. He has taken part in football camping activities and has also been a sports coach in Nigeria. He played in division 4 of the Hungarian league before continuing his studies.

Balázs Veress
Balázs started playing football at the age of 10 for Ferencváros Budapest and he is currently playing in the Hungarian 4th division for Hegyvidék S.E. He has been at Buda Juniors since summer 2008. Balázs is studying law at Károli Gáspár University in Budapest and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in European Business Law degree in May 2010 at Abertay University of Dundee, Scotland. He speaks Hungarian, English and German.
